Running the attached testcase with:

verilator_bin --lint-only 4.sv

using version:

Verilator 4.020 devel rev v4.020-19-gc73336f

Produces:

%Error: 4.sv:2: syntax error, unexpected '.', expecting '['
 interface i(.a);
              ^
%Error: Internal Error: 4.sv:1: ../V3ParseSym.h:115: Symbols suggest ending IFACE 'i' but parser thinks ending MODULE 'm'
module m;
        ^

This is not specific to interfaces. The attached testcase does this with a function and union:

%Error: 5.sv:2: syntax error, unexpected '}', expecting TYPE-IDENTIFIER
  union {};
          ^
%Error: Internal Error: 5.sv:1: ../V3ParseSym.h:115: Symbols suggest ending UNIONDTYPE but parser thinks ending FUNC 'f'
function f;
          ^

Going to ignore internal errors after normal errors.
