Running the attached testcase with:

verilator_bin --lint-only 4.sv

On version:

Verilator 4.020 devel rev v4.020-56-gbcb766b

Produces:

%Warning-WIDTH: 4.sv:6: Operator EQ expects 2 bits on the RHS, but RHS's VARREF 'a' generates 1 bits.
                       : ... In instance m
     c=b==a;
        ^~
                 ... Use "/* verilator lint_off WIDTH */" and lint_on around source to disable this message.
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
