This is an imported issue, original reference WP-459, created on 09 Sep 2015.

It would be nice to visualize where each commit comes from, i.e., which environment, using some colors, labels or something like that.

The biggest fundamental issue at the moment is that we cannot tell the name of a current environment. We should store it somehow and then put a tag like X-VP-Environment: master to each commit.

The environment name is specified in wp-config.php by constant VP_ENVIRONMENT. Original site (not a clone) is always called master and it lacks the VP_ENVIRONMENT constant.
The environment name is saved as X-VP-Environment tag in every commit.
