This is the beta release of the upcoming Veyon 4.2 release series and has seen many improvements and bugfixes compared to the alpha version. We still recommend extensive testing before installing in production environments.

Improvements and changes since Veyon 4.2 Alpha

This is the last maintenance release of the stable Veyon 4.0.x series. Veyon 4.0.x is now EOL (End-of-life). All users are encouraged to switch to Veyon 4.1 or newer.

This is the first alpha release of the upcoming Veyon 4.2 release series. We recommend to using it in test environments only as it still might contain serious bugs.

Improvements and changes in Veyon 4.2

  • New file transfer plugin allowing to send files to all users and open them automatically if requested
  • Wake-on-LAN can be used in the CLI via the power module
  • BuiltinDirectory backend allows to import CSV files with a type column
  • Improved user name handling (fixes problems with login or full names containing special characters)
  • Improved message handling reducing latencies between master and clients
  • Overall performance improvements by optimizing internal debugging mechanisms
  • Prepared SASL support for LDAP connections on Linux
  • Improved platform-specific network code for more reliable connections on Windows
  • Improved internal data models leading to more stability and reliabilty of Veyon Master

This is the 4th maintenance release of Veyon 4.1 with important security and bug fixes:

Changes since 4.1.3

  • LDAP: fix group queries if user or computer name can't be resolved to an LDAP object which could lead to improper access control functionality
  • Windows: at startup the service always (re-)installs the input device interception driver if it's not installed properly - fixes non-working input devices after reboot
  • PowerControl: send WOL packets to all network interfaces making this feature work properly on master computers with multiple network adapters or additional virtual network adapters are installed
  • Fix crash in VNC client if not enough memory is available
