1. install necessary dependencies
sudo aptitude install exuberant-ctags
sudo apt-get install python-flake8

2. checkout the repo to 
/home/<USERNAME>/dotfiles

3. link

ln -s ~/dotfiles/vimconf/ ~/.vim
ln -s ~/dotfiles/vimconf/vimrc ~/.vimrc

4. from repo:
git submodule init && git submodule update

5. configure ruby support for command-t
sudo aptitude install ruby ruby-dev
sudo apt-get install vim-nox
cd ~/.vim/bundle/command-t/ruby/command-t/
ruby extconf.rb
make

6. Stick this in your profile init:
#COLOURS IN VIM
export TERM='xterm-256color'

7. ENJOY

SOME USEFUL COMMANDS:
/o - search facility (Rubby support needed)
/t - NERDTree
/l - Tagbar
/cc - outcomment a selection
/ci - remove comments from a selection
