MusicXML 3.0 states that the offset element "indicates where the direction will appear relative to the current musical location." However, developers have found this ambiguous for directions that follow the last note in a measure. Is the current musical location at the end of the current measure, or at the first note in the following measure?

The intent is that the current musical location stays within a measure, so the musical location would be at the end of the current measure. This should be clarified in the documentation.

This issue was raised via a private email. A similar issue comes up in an offset discussion on the MusicXML forum at http://forums.makemusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2398.
