Thanks, Eric! This will be helpful! A few thoughts/suggestions/considerations on early draft:

Limit horizontal scrolling (including for people with large text)

  • use abbreviated titles of resource -- e.g., from https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/Drafts/wai-pages or even shorter from Nav
  • maybe link title of resource to save space (then not need "Published URL")
  • suggest no pics of people (also distracting)
  • maybe abbreviate "medium"->"med"
  • allow column resizing (e.g., Contributors column is wide but not that important for most tasks). Ideally users could choose whether text is truncated, or wrapped and the row gets taller– but I think that's low priority.

Others:

  • It feels like Notes would be better in a column. I think more resources will have important notes that we want to skim – not have to click arrow for. eg current "update notes" in https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/Drafts/wai-pages Maybe short note and click for more?
  • In "Stages" columns, current highlighting is distracting. I think highlight only the things that are drafts. And use quieter highlight color.
  • Maybe highlight "high" priority in Urgency.

Thanks for your comments.

Yes, once I got around doing some more layout-y stuff, I will implement a responsive table method. I might not use a table at all in the end. Organizing this information is relatively complicated (as you know ;-)

I found that extremely confusing and strongly prefer the real name of the documents to be visible at all times.

  • maybe link title of resource to save space (then not need "Published URL")

Good suggestion, but then I need a place for the link to the detail view of the resource.

  • suggest no pics of people (also distracting)

I actually like the touch of humanity in there, probably we have to see what people think :-)

  • maybe abbreviate "medium"->"med"

Good suggestion.

Column resizing in the web in an accessible way is probably a (multi-week?) project on its own. I see what else I can do to display less information and then have additional information available on demand.

I thought so, too, but then you get incredibly large notes columns, and as the titles are already relatively long, it makes sense to have the notes in there. Maybe I can truncate the notes and have a show more button.

  • In "Stages" columns, current highlighting is distracting. I think highlight only the things that are drafts. > And use quieter highlight color.

Hm. I will look into it.

  • Maybe highlight "high" priority in Urgency.

Yes, I plan to do that. Actually I plan to split the table and have urgent & priority resources be above all other resources.
