Grammatical error in "Understandable"? #460

Description

@LJWatson

The description for the Understandable principle is:

Information and the operation of user interface must be understandable.>

It seems that user interface should either be plural, or have some form of preposition before it (like the). For example:

Information and the operation of user interfaces must be understandable.>

Or:

Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable.>

Using the plural seems like the better option to me.

    I agree that "interfaces" would be better. Of course, this is in the normative text, so we will need to process this as an editorial errata.

    Okay with this being an editorial errata, but “user interface” appears 15 times in WCAG proper, “user interfaces” appears 0 times. So if we are making a change, I recommend keeping “interface” singular. (For the plural, WCAG uses “user interface components”.)

    The Principle could also be: “Information and the operation of user interface components must be understandable” -- but that gets away from the Principles (and Guidelines) being plain language.

    The correct text for the Understanding principle is "Information and operation of the user interface must be understandable".
