Frequently asked questions:

  • OpenPlex wont install on El Capitan 10.11.x. Read this on how to fix the issue:

  • OS X server issue(s): OpenPlex is not designed for OS X server. Some users have been able to get it to work others have not. Trying to debug any issues would be impossible on our end since we do not use server whatsoever. We have tested it on 10.6.x by disabling a few services and were able to get limited functionality in the server.app but never tested it further. Any issues can be posted in the forums but we personally don't provide support for OS X server.

  • The progress bar for installing a theme won't stop after waiting a long time or the app doesn't seem to work at all anymore: There was an error in previous apps causing the folder /usr/local/git/OP to be created without permission and a lot of new changes were made to the app recently to increase the speed of the app immensely. If you notice this error reinstall the app entirely using the new OpenPlex-istaller.app.

  • Pillow or it's dependencies won't install properly (fanart doesn't work): This is a known bug that happens occasionally to some users. Unfortunately I did not write the pillow installer script. You have two options 1. Post for assistance and wait until someone debug's the issue or 2. Reinstall your entire Mac OS. We wish we could give you a better solution but outside of the reinstalling of OS X we have yet to see a solution to this known bug. Hopefully it can resolved in the near future.We have made some progress debugging the issue but it seems to be a painstakingly slow process to due so.

  • How do I load certs to my aTV: Follow the aTV guide provided in the Hijack Tab. The Cert URL is the easiest way (without http prefix) to load the cert onto your aTV. It should take seconds to load the cert on your aTV. If you are still running into problems ensure your aTV is running iOS 5 or higher and your mac OS partition is not corrupt. If your OS is corrupt try a different machine (if possible) or reinstall your OS if you do not wish to spend hours debugging the issue. Some have luck debugging issues while others do not the choice is ultimately yours but I personally like to ensure fast and reliable results by reinstalling OS X while others choose to debug. There is no wrong answer here debugging does provide help for other users encountering similar issues I just don't have patience to debug so I personally would rather just reinstall my OS to ensure the issue is fixed if one arrises.

  • The app is running slow: The app appears to be running slow in some cases usually slow Internet service providers (ISP's). It cannot be stressed enough to wait for each progress bar to complete before continuing to the next step. If you force close the app it will cause errors since the macro was not allowed to complete the proper installation procedure. Shame on you. ;)

  • I am a new user help me!: The best thing to do when you are a new users is to remain patient, It cannot be stress enough wait for each progress bar to complete before continuing to the next step. This is the proper way to install a PlexConect via OpenPlex. Visit the wiki for a tutorial:

  • How do I switch themes: Just visit the theme tab and pick a new theme.

  • Why is there so many options in the advanced tab: It is still a work in progress but the main ones you should use are backup all and restore all unless a theme developer typically.

  • What is WebConnect: WebConnect is an optional way to manage PlexConnect on any device and web browser anywhere in the world jailbroken or not. Install, Installs WebConnect and preference pane (10.10 doesnt use a pref pane). Update Updates WebConnect to latest Release. Uninstall Uninstalls WebConnect. Installer views the Installer list cgi based view. Default views the IOS iPad tuned cgi based view. IOS views any IOS device cgi based view. List views List cgi based view.

  • How do I uninstall the app: Just click uninstall from the Settings Tab.
