No python-pyclips

When I trying to use apt install python-pyclip:

E: Unable to find python-pyclip package.

When I trying pip install pyclip:

pyclip is not available on Debian, Ubuntu, etc.
You must install it using pip but related to PEP 668 – Marking Python base environments as "externally managed" if you installing python packages manually, you'll see verbose messages that warn you like above.
This behavior start on Ubuntu 23.04 and Debian 12.
Do this to install

sudo pip install pyclip --break-system-packages

i have both installed on Ubuntu 23.04 x86_64
pycplip vía pip, and wl-clipboard vía apt

But clipboard not working two ways.

Update: Clipboard works only when you copy from Waydroid FIRST and then copy from Host to Waydroid.

I tried this on KDE's wayland and worked both ways:

sudo pip install pyclip --break-system-packages

but is it possible to be used the python3-pyperclip which is available on Debian 12?

This works for removing the error, but it is not a clean solution:
sudo pip install pyclip --break-system-packages

While the error disappears as a drawback the clipboard stopped working for me in Waydroid after this fix.

To begin to make this suggestion work, you need to install python3-venv. After you have, this looks plausible, and the installation works and the correct link is installed in your ~/bin directory - a better choice would be to use mkdir -p "$HOME/bin", and the extra line for .bashrc is not required, it's already in .profile.

Even all that and the ability to execute pyclip doesn't actually make waydroid detect the pyclip package, it appears to be using a python import and using that to detect if the package is available using a try .. except in clipboard_manager.py.

The only way appears to be to use the sudo pip install pyclip --break-system-packages method as suggested by @Snowurm - suffice to say that this is not how you should do that on a Debian machine. Interestingly the search results in relation to Debian and pyclip all appear to be about waydroid.

For context, I'm attempting to install waydroid on a completely minimal Debian Bookworm system and there appear to be so many missing dependencies that I don't even know where to start or report it.

I can say that the supplied installation instructions for Debian just don't work and the install script doesn't even begin to actually do anything other than set-up the repo and run apt update.

This is old but if anyone is seeing this what fixed it for me was running pyclip in an isolated python environment.

sudo apt update sudo apt install python3-venv python3 -m venv ~/.venvs/waydroid source ~/.venvs/waydroid/bin/activate pip install pyclip

then run inside the created waydroid python environment:

sudo apt install wl-clipboard

I also ran this command that was mentioned earlier but it didn't fix the issue until I ran the above commands: sudo pip install pyclip --break-system-packages
