When I cmd-shift-p install package, the dialog to choose which package to install does not display. The status bar does display the loading packages message.

Here's what the console says:

Package Control: Skipping automatic upgrade, last run at 2012-01-14 09:42:06, next run at 2012-01-14 10:42:06 or after

Hmm... did you override the repository_channels setting in Preferences > Package Settings > Package Control > Settings – User? Or remove it from the Settings – Default file?

From Settings - Default:

// A list of URLs that each contain a JSON file with a list of repositories.
// The repositories from these channels are placed in order after the
// repositories from the "repositories" setting
"repository_channels": [

From Settings - User:

"auto_upgrade_last_run": 1326647795,
    "Package Control",
    "Theme - Soda",

I'm having the same issue. I'm running sublime beta, build 2165 on mac osx 10.6.8. Here's my package control.sublime-settings (user) file:

    "auto_upgrade_last_run": 1327341781,
        "CSS Less(ish)",
        "Package Control"

Well, I wiped my~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text 2 folder entirely, and reinstalled my plugins from scratch, and now everything is working well. I'm guessing I borked a settings file at some point on accident. I'll let you know if the issue comes back.

Happened here as well. Wiping ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text 2 indeed solved the problem.
Thanks @austinhappel!

So this is back and I think I can reproduce it.

Specifically adding this repo to repositories causes the above error:

I'm getting a similiar issue on Windows though I am using the portable edition of ST2.

My server has been under ever-increasing load over the past few days. It is possible I am going to need to offload at least the repositories.json file in the near future to handle the load I am seeing.
