I used the image on my local cluster with skaffold, created a new wiki and "updated" it with the API MediawikiUpdate Job and the 1.37 DB scheme, which worked. I also see 1.38.5 on the Special:Version page. Adding/Editing items, seeing them in the QueryService and using Quick Statements seemed to work, not sure about ES but that may have been my local cluster acting up.
