"Chrome 28 will add support forallocating a TURN server over TCP, but the packets will still be relayed through UDP. " Chrome 33 is the current version. Shouldn't be an issue. On Sun, Mar 30, 2014 at 4:20 PM, gauravsaini notifications@github.com

Yeah, this may be an issue, but hopefully users will always be able to reach some peers. A user doesn't need perfect connectivity (the ability to reach any arbitrary peer) in order to complete a download. There may be some users who can't connect to any peers, and these users would have a sad time. I asked on twitter about this: https://twitter.com/feross/status/450368603401883648 It seems that the connection fails in about 20% of cases, when a peer tries to connect to another specific peer. If you add a TURN server, then it's goes down to 7-10%. Add a server with websockets or something and you get to 0%, obviously. But this is no longer P2P. |
