  • Browser name/version (if using WebTorrent in the browser): chrome for Android(latest regular release)

By simply opening webtorrents.io it appears that the site has used over 100 MB of my mobile data.
Imagine visiting a site like this while on roaming data.

Reloading the page restarts the download of another 100+ MB.

Once downloaded, there is no way to actually view what was downloaded, at least not in the mobile browser.

I'm not sure about on the mobile version, but on the desktop version of WebTorrent's site, a player appears and begins streaming Sintel (a short film). That might be the issue here because the Sintel movie it plays is 129.24Mb.

Yes it states that it's sintel.torrent
There are two issues.

  1. The player doesn't work in mobile, but the download does.
  2. The download starts automatically which is not usually appreciated on mobile

This is a screen recording of the website in chrome for Android.

Watching a YouTube video also takes 10s to 100s of MBs. And at least webtorrent.io shows you the exact amount of data that it's using so you can close the tab if you like.

The video plays back just fine for me using Chrome on Android. Can you share what device / Android version / Chrome version you're using in a new issue?
