We seem to be missing a way to send text to a buffer through regular commands

e.g. there's nothing corresponding to /msg -server SERVER =nick text (sends text to DCC CHAT with that nick on that server).

I used to have an irssi alias /botsay /msg =$1 .say $channel $2-.
Doing "/botsay botnick hello too" would then make the bot speak to the current channel I'm in.

I don't think DCC chats are tied to a specific server after the initial connection is made, after that it should be user<->user instead of user<->server<->user.

That's true, but not the point. I try to address that particular buffer independently of its purpose here. What I'm actually sending through that buffer doesn't have to do with weechat at all.

It is now possible with the commands /command -buffer ... and /input send ....
For example: /command -buffer irc.freenode.#weechat * input send hello.

I added a new default alias /msgbuf but it is not created by default if you have an existing config.
You can add it manually:
/alias -completion %(buffers_plugins_names) msgbuf command -buffer $1 * /input send $2-.

Wasn't it basically already possible with /quote -server /msg nick message too?

@FiXato: yes, to send message to an IRC channel/nick. But the initial feature request was to send text to any buffer (for example on DCC chat buffer, which is managed by xfer plugin, and then /quote or /msg will not work).
So I added a generic way to send to any buffer, just like weechat.command() does in the API.
