MAKEOVER EDITION!

Installation: If you're installing from scratch, just download the WINNITRON_v2.3.0_install.zip file and unzip to C:\. If you want to put it elsewhere on the drive, that's cool too but requires one extra configuration step. Setup and config details are available in the wiki.

Upgrading: Same as above, but download the WINNITRON_v2.3.0_upgrade.zip file. The Launcher files are the same, but there are fewer files in WINNITRON_UserData so as not to overwrite anything you've already got installed - we just need to give you an updated language file and the intro.mp4 and background.mp4 files to put in WINNITRON_UserData/Attract/.

Questions, comments, complaints or beefs? Twitter is probably your best bet: @Winnitron1000

  • Gather stats on game play! Each time a game is started or stopped, that event is sent to the Network; devs can see how often their games are being played (and on which Winnitrons), and Winnitron-owners can see which games are being played on their machines. Cool stuff, right? Right!
  • Improvements to game cover images:
    • Launcher now always uses the image specified by the developer on the website (i.e., the one specified in the winnitron_metadata.json file), rather than just searching for a png and hoping for the best.
    • Speaking of pngs, now also supports jpeg. The future is now! 😅
    • It still falls back to previous behaviour, though, if it can't find the specified image file for whatever reason.
  • Bug fixes for custom key maps.

Installation: If you're installing from scratch, just download the zip file and unzip to C:\. If you want to put it elsewhere on the drive, that's cool too but requires one extra configuration step. Setup and config details are available in the wiki.

Upgrading: overwrite your existing WINNITRON folder with the one in the zip file.

As always, any questions you can send over to support@winnitron.com or twitter: @winnitron1000

bump version

This one is exciting!

  • Support for games with custom key bindings!
  • Support for Winnitrons with custom key bindings!
  • Whoa! That is exciting!
  • Remote logging via Loggly
  • Configurable log levels (less spam in the log file means easier troubleshooting)
  • Support for launcher_keep_awake
  • A bunch of bug fixes, of course

You can check the new Winnitron configuration wiki page for details on how to set up and use these features.

If you're upgrading from v2.0, you don't need to do anything extra - just download the zip and overwrite your WINNITRON folder with the new version. Your existing WINNITRON_UserData folder and its contents (games, options file, etc) are still compatible as-is. Game metadata will automatically update on first sync.
