audit-trail:

  • next llvmlite/numba
  • pymc3-3.0.0rc1

  • traitlets 4.3
  • clrmagic
  • scikit_learn-0.18rc2
  • Spyder-3..0dev-20160911 (beta6.5, as a lot of new things went into beta7, creating issues)
  • baresql-0.7.4 (pandas 0.19 compatibility fix)

build1 (2016-09-18)

  • scipy-0.18.1 (respin2)
  • pythonnet-2.2.0dev1
  • Spyder 3.0.0dev (2016-09-22 with dos patch, is 'rc' hours in advance)

  • Spyder 3.0.0
  • scikit-learn-0.18.0
  • scikit-optimize-20160927
  • go back to matplotlib 1.5.3 for now, as matplotlib2.0 is apparently drifting and bokeh-0.12.3 is late,
  • nbconvert_reportlab
  • auto-patch guidata+quiqwt for Spyder 3.0 after install (failing to do a proper wheel)
  • holoviews-20161001 live with live_streams https://anaconda.org/philippjfr/bokeh_streams/notebook

build2 (2016-10-01, Spyder 3.0.0, scikit-learn-0.18.0, back to Matplotlib-1.5.3)

build3 (October 08th, target versions are in)

  • Winpython-3.6.0.0b4: Python-3.6.0b2, with IDLE/Jupyter/Cython/Pandas, without Spyder/Qtconsole/Numba/Pulp/statsmodels.
  • may/may not be part of WinPython-201605, so details here #396 (comment)
  • nota : a compatibility bug in Pandas-0.19 when playing WinPythonChecker

rc2 (October 10-23: most annoying fixes in, but remains 2)

  • remove IDLEX from Python-3.6.0b2 (can't make it work, but IDLE is ok, current beta testers just need to do "pip uninstall IDLEX" and the icon works with plain IDLE)
  • cython-0.25.1 for WinPython3.6 only ( pandas-dev/pandas#14496 )
  • jupyterlab-0.7
  • scikit-optimize-0.2
  • Holoviews-20161028
  • pymc3rc2-20161028
  • %WINPYDIR% may now contain a direct path (no painfull"..")
  • python-3.6.0b3 to fix a bug impacting winpython-3.6
  • workarounded a mysterious Pandas-0.19.0 issue under Python-3.6.0 by using "idx.date" instead of "idx" as a dataframe index in WinPython_checker.ipynb

  • pyqtgraph-20161102am 10th release

  • {x] dask-0.12

rc3 (November 05: all annoying fixes in)

  • For Winpython-3.6.0: sudden arrival of PyQt4, so Spyder, Qtconsole and friends

rc4 (November Xth, for Python3.6 Qt complements only, no change for the rest)

  • start rework build process:
    • learn to "nsis" or "7z" from out of the build process:
      • " 7z.exe a -mx1 winpython_dir.zip winpythondir" (-mx1 = very fast, -mx3 = fast, -mx7=maxi, -mx9=uktra)
    • learn to do batchlog process from out of build process
    • simplify "step1" Zero version,
    • make "step2" similar to growing from Zero + "batchlog" & "nsis/7z" process

explorative work:

@RoyiAvital

Could we fix the issue of .QtWebEngineProcess and .Spyder in the user folder?

Otherwise it is not real portable.

It seems it can be solved by overriding System Variables at launch of the programs:
http://portableapps.com/node/54976

This is a great project.
Going to download release 4.

Thank You.

  • create issues / patches to get Matplotlib-2.0.0b4, pandas 0.19rc1 and other packages fit together.

Next focus:

  • pushing issues and bug fix on packages receiving deprecation warning from Matplotlib 2.0.0b4,

  • helping Spyder-3.0.0rc working well on WinPython (3.0.0b7 create issues, so couldn't be in this beta)

@RoyiAvital

Hi,
Any updates on .QtWebEngineProcess and .Spyder?

Thank You.

@stonebig
Contributor

I didn't look at it, Scrambling on Spyder-3.0.0b7 debuging, pandas-0.19 and Matplotlib-2.0.0b4 deprecation warnings

You may help: try to find where in Spyder code it is decided to put that ".Spyder" file.

@RoyiAvital

I wish I could help.
I have zero knowledge in Programming outside MATLAB (Now learning Python).

I would think it has something to do with changing the Path Tokens in Windows.
Just Defining the User Path to be something else on the launcher.

rc3 (2016-11-05):

main features (since WinPython 2016-04 rc2):

  • %WINPYDIR% is now a normalized path (no more ".." inside),

  • Python-3.6.0b3 +still the minimal necessary pip "b3" patch

  • NOTA: WinPython-3.6.0.0rc3 specificities:

    • Jupyterlab-0.7.0 added
    • doesn't include Spyder as there is no PyQt stack yet, (same for Numba)
    • Python-3.6.0b3+Pandas-0.19.0 is not perfect yet (pandas-dev/pandas#14561 )
