Swiping Between Unread Notifications Does Not Remove Unread Badge #9340

Expected

When all unread notifications are read while swiping between notifications, the notification badge in the bottom navigation view is hidden and remains hidden.

Observed

When all unread notifications are read while swiping between notifications, the notification badge in the bottom navigation view is not hidden and does not remain hidden. See the screenshot below for illustration.

Reproduced

  1. Trigger new notification.
  2. Go to Notifications tab.
  3. Notice notification badge is shown.
  4. Tap notification after new notification.
  5. Swipe to read new notification.
  6. Tap back arrow.
  7. Notice new notification is marked read in list.
  8. Notice notification badge is shown.
  9. Tap Unread button.
  10. Notice no notifications are shown.
  11. Notice notification badge is shown.
  12. Tap All button.
  13. Notice notification badge is shown.
  14. Go to Me tab.
  15. Notice notification badge is shown.
  16. Go to Notifications tab.
  17. Notice notification badge is hidden.
  18. Tap notification after new notification.
  19. Tap back arrow.
  20. Notice notification badge is shown.

Google Pixel 3 on Android 9.0 with alpha-153
