node-vertica looks great so far.

Are there any known limitations or non implemented features I should be aware of? e.g. transactions, advanced tweaks etc.

I think the library is mostly feature complete. Some notes:

  • Transactions are supported, because these live on the server, not the client. A transaction starts automatically. You can just run COMMIT or ROLLBACK as a query to commit or rollback the transactions.
  • Vertica does not support prepared statements (at least version 5.x). Because of this, this library doesn't support it either.
  • A connection can only run one query at the time. Because of the evented nature of node, it is possible to start another query while the other query has not yet finished. This driver implements a basic queueing system, so you do not have to be aware of this, but for more parallelism you may want to use multiple connections.
  • As far as advanced tweaks, most "tweaks" I can think of live on the server side, and can be controlled by running queries, which of course works with this library.

If you run into anything that isn't implemented, please file a bug.
