Same problem for me : skype, qjackctl.

Qjackctl is small and open source, you can also take a look at QT demos, there is for sure a systray sample code to debug.

There is a simple sample in QT sources in examples/desktop/systray
And the code works in LXDE. Take a look at lxpanel sources (src/plugins/systray.c)

Here is the QT systray example, extracted from the original QT sources (UUencoded).

I would also add that whenever you want to restore windows of a qt-app it doesn't do anything.
(Example; in Skype, if I open the file transfer window, then close it, I won't be able to reopen it again without killing-relaunching Skype.)

I believe this same bug is causing problems in mumble as well: when you open mumble it works great, but as soon as you move focus to another desktop, it disappears when you move back. The only way to get the window back is to restart the application.

Mumble has a setting to disable tray minimization at desktop switching, I use it everyday without any problems.

Yep, that's a good fix in the interim - thanks xorg62 👍
