Was a perm issue. Closing as of now.

Which folder needed permissions changed?

@eddiemonge I was a sudo thinge. My F.S were bit screwed

For me, (and for others that may hit this) I manually unlinked /usr/local/bin/grunt (it was a symlink with a root permission) and then re-ran the install. went smooth after that.

Manually removed grunt /usr/local/bin/grunt as well and worked. Thanks!

Can also confirm that removing /usr/local/bin/grunt fixed the problem.
