youtube-dl downloads only low-quality video from Dailymotion #10

I may not implement this immediately, but I'll leave the issue open as a reminder. Thanks for reporting. |

Originally by anonymous: Hi. If you happen to need an example of a video that is available in a higher quality setting than the one that current youtube-dl grabs, try the one with id 3lEOX6BB4GQ. I should mention that this is a regression, since older versions did grab that version of the video. Thanks. Just to give some more details, the video above is available, for instance, in format 18, but youtube-dl only grabs the video in format 34. |

Are you talking about YouTube or Dailymotion? This issue is about Dailymotion, not about Youtube. |

Originally by anonymous: I was talking about Youtube. Not sure what the other anonymous was talking about. [:)] Feel free to clone this bug (I'm not familiar with bitbucket). Regarding the youtube video that I was talking about, it does work if I force youtube-dl to use -f 18 option. Is there any way to print some debugging messages regarding the videos? From a quick glance, it doesn't seem to. Thanks. |

I already addressed the problem recently in issue number 183 [note: from bitbucket.org], but I have just added an entry to the FAQ mentioning it, just in case more people wonder why they are not getting the best quality for a specific video. |

Closing: now DailymotionIE grabs the best available quality |

Hello. youtube-dl downloads only the low-quality video of a Dailymotion page while a Firefox add-on (DownloadHelper) downloads the "normal" quality.
As youtube-dl is meant to be a youtube-downloader I set the type of this issue as "enchancement" and not bug.
