Before submitting an issue make sure you have:

  • At least skimmed through README and most notably FAQ and BUGS sections
  • Searched the bugtracker for similar issues including closed ones

What is the purpose of your issue?

  • Bug report (encountered problems with youtube-dl)
  • Site support request (request for adding support for a new site)
  • Feature request (request for a new functionality)
  • Question
  • Other

The URL: http://vancouverisland.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=761241 falls to the generic and fails;
Whereas the same video, different URL: http://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=761241 does download a video
(so that is URL relax prob)

HOWEVER, the downloaded video has NO audio.

youtube-dl.py -F "http://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=761241" reveals that the audio format code is "aac_96000-English" ...so the audio is downloadable via:
youtube-dl.py --format=aac_96000-English "http://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=761241"

then ffmpeg to put them together

I hope that makes sense???
Thanks as always
Ringo
