Hello, i am using youtube-dl at my raspberry pi. I recognized it was much slower than other programs, so i started to wonder. At my pc it was just 3.12 seconds but at my raspberry pi 12.36 seconds.
Finally i found out that the problem was the extractors.py file, because it imports every single file just to look up which one is the right extractor. This makes youtube-dl very slow.
For me i just deleted every extractor i dont use and got a time of 3.6 seconds.
So i thought of a solution. It would be much faster if there is just one file where every "_VALID_URL " is to find and then it depends on this file which module it should import. The second idea is to make a new argument for it where you can set just one extractor which should be used.
I made the issue to ask if i should implement such a feature. Or if its not wanted, then i can save the time. Then i dont have to spend so much time on it.
