This is often 150 times faster, and produces a file with better quality and smaller filesize. It would tremendously benefit a relatively large amount of people, and it shouldn’t require much work to implement for anyone who understands the relevant code. Please fix this behavior. |

Post the full output of youtube-dl when run with
Do not post screenshots of verbose log only plain text is acceptable. The output (including the first lines) contains important debugging information. Issues without the full output are often not reproducible and therefore do not get solved in short order, if ever. |

Your log is incomplete. Do not remove any output from it. I'm not going to fortune tell what command you are running and what's in your config. |

When recoding downloaded media to MP4 as directed by the
recode-video mp4argument, youtube-dl doesn’t specify to FFMPEG which file is incompatible with MP4 and therefore necessary to convert. As a result, FFMPEG recodes all of the files given as per the defaults, leading to a loss of quality and a massive amount of wasted CPU time.-c:v copyor-c:a copyshould be specified for any formats that are already supported by MP4. It shouldn’t be re-encoding H.264 video just because I downloaded Opus audio.This is a rather serious problem, as it has the potential to tie up a computer’s CPU for hours to no benefit, and can affect anyone using the
recode-videoargument.
