Description of your issue, suggested solution and other information

I am having trouble using the --netrc feature. I have not had any problems with using youtube-dl before until I tried setting up the the .netrc feature. I am usinga linux os

I setup the .netrc file in the folder "/home/my account" and in the .netrc is "machine youtube login "username@gmail.com" password "password"" and when I try to run a youtube url I get this.

youtube-dl -v -n https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M_ywyGrPD8
[debug] System config: []
[debug] User config: [u'-i', u'-v', u'-u', u'PRIVATE', u'--download-archive', u'Video_Archive', u'-o', u'~/Videos/%(title)s-%(id)s.%(ext)s']
[debug] Custom config: []
[debug] Command-line args: [u'-v', u'-n', u'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M_ywyGrPD8']
Usage: youtube-dl [OPTIONS] URL [URL...]

youtube-dl: error: using .netrc conflicts with giving username/password

I was hoping someone could help me fix "youtube-dl: error: using .netrc conflicts with giving username/password"

I've read the documentation on the youtube-dl website and it said to put "machine youtube login myaccount@gmail.com password my_youtube_password". The user name and password are all correct and and works when I use the -u -p features.

Did you even read the error message at all? It clearly tells you not to use -n and -u/-p at the same time.
