That url is the direct link to the video file, you can directly download it using wget :wget -O blip.mov 'http://j43.video2.blip.tv/5710002108791/Cannikin-TurningALeg427.mov?ir=2497&sr=1073', so I don't think youtube-should support them. Where did you get that url?

This is now supported. Type sudo youtube-dl -U to update.
