Server returned 403:Forbidden while trying to play in mplayer #1389

Currently we are using youtube-dl version 2013.08.30 to get url, and further we play it in mplayer.

In some video it throws an error "Server returned 403:Forbidden" ?

now if I will update the youtube-dl version perhaps it will play.. any reason why this error comes?

Please find relevant logs for further investigation.

Can you try the current version of youtube-dl? Type sudo youtube-dl -U to update. Also, can you post the entire output of

youtube-dl --get-url --cookies cookiefile.tmp kffacxfA7G4 -v

When I update youtube-dl then it definitely works, may I know the reason why does it happen.
Same Video is working before in old version and suddenly it stops working..

Youtube make some changes at there end so you also have to update youtube-dl almost everyday ?

Yes, at the moment, YouTube changes its signature algorithm (which is needed for the download) approximately once per week. While I am developing a more permanent (but also waaay more complex) solution, there still seem to be edge cases where we need the staticly extracted algorithms, and need them up-to-date.
