tl;dr - Some imdb vids download as mp4, others download as m3u8. But bug reporter is correct that simply changing extension (to .mp4) allows it to be played. Should this be changed for user ease? I think it would definitely help non-tech users. Maintainers please advise! (i'd like to make the change if it's approved as valid) Details: The bug's url: https://www.imdb.com/videoplayer/vi247707929?ref_=ttvi_vi_imdb_4 looks up vid info here (1). Clearly it has 'm3u8' in it and utils:determine_ext does a guess that the video is an m3u8. A working vid at url: http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2524815897 lloks up vid info here (2). If I may chime in -- .m3u and .m3u8 are playlist formats, so I would propose that this is worth addressing because the file is clearly being marked in a grossly incorrect manner. Can |
