Description of your issue, suggested solution and other information

I use youtube-dl mostly to save videos from Twitter, and it mostly works well for me.

However I’ve noticed on occasion when I download a video the following happens:

  1. I go to download the video, using all the defaults (eg youtube-dl https://twitter.com/Hansenq/status/990054778318110720)

  2. The file successfully downloads to my Mac.

  3. When I go to play the video (either by using Quicklook in Finder, or opening it in Quicktime), the video displays the correct duration and plays, but after about 3 seconds, the video pauses (and the audio continues to play).

So it seems like sometimes the video stream is just dropped or something (I’m not really sure what’s going on). This does not always happen with twitter videos (sometimes they download and play completely fine), but it does happen from time to time (as is happening for me and the above link). Ideally, this wouldn’t happen and the complete video + audio streams would play for all twitter videos.

Quicktime issue. Use normal players.
