hi there

Seems to have been a problem for a while so i properly updated today and still not letting one get the best format only -f 22 720p as best available when 1080p is on YT site

dash for 1080

Reading earlier issues i see it has happened before

-f 137 yields this

[youtube] Setting language
[youtube] v-cmmT3YoF0: Downloading video webpage
[youtube] v-cmmT3YoF0: Downloading video info webpage
[youtube] v-cmmT3YoF0: Extracting video information

[download] 100% of 317.48MiB in 09:28
ERROR: WARNING: unable to obtain file audio codec with ffprobe

not sure what to do ... any ideas? thanx shan

You should mention the whole command line (with --verbose ) to help the developers :
I guess you use both -f 137 and --extract-audio. I'm able to reproduce it too :

youtube-dl -t --extract-audio --verbose -f 137 v-cmmT3YoF0

[debug] User config: []
[debug] Command-line args: ['-t', '--extract-audio', '--verbose', '-f', '137', 'v-cmmT3YoF0']

PS : without -f 137 it does work fine :

youtube-dl -t --extract-audio --verbose v-cmmT3YoF0

When you get the available formats with --list-formats, the formats marked as DASH video only contain video, on the other side the DASH audio formats only contain the audio. I you just want the audio and not the video you can run youtube-dl --extract-audio -f 141 v-cmmT3YoF0. If you want to get a file with both the video and the audio in 1080, you'll have to download the two formats and then run: ffmpeg -i THE_VIDEO_FILE.mp4 -i THE_AUDIO_FILE.m4a -c copy full.mp4.
We're planning to automatically merge the two formats (#1612), but it may take some time
