Youtube signature extration failed / html5 player unable to extract

I'm on ubuntu 18.04
version 2018.10.05 (this is very odd as i downloaded it fresh today from the latest repo but it does not show correct version)\

youtube-dl 2018.11.07 - yet displays 2018.10.05
I checked the url of videos wanted to be downloaded and its working / just cant download it as of last night.
