Make sure you are using the latest version: run youtube-dl --version and ensure your version is 2019.01.10. If it's not, read this FAQ entry and update. Issues with outdated version will be rejected.

  • I've verified and I assure that I'm running youtube-dl 2019.01.10

Before submitting an issue make sure you have:

Description of your issue, suggested solution and other information

I'd like to list only audio formats when using the -F flag. Is it possible to do it right now without workarounds in my terminal? If not, do you think adding a video-only or audio-only parameters to the already existing format selection could be feasible? I'm using youtube-dl in a custom batch script but I don't need to list format codes for video files since I only use audio formats.

-F always lists all formats and have nothing to do with format selection. Format selection on its own already have ability to select only-formats with acodec and vcodec.
