Thanks for the report! youtube-dl 'http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/red-fang-battle-boozing-zombies-in-blood-like-cream-premiere-20131212' now works as expected. Type youtube-dl -U to update to version 2013.12.16.6 or newer.

Whoops, I just notices a small wrinkle. The videoplayer style ones (like from the xml list) do not work, they try falling back on the generic information extractor and then almost working by changing it to a cache style URL, like so:

$ youtube-dl -F 'http://videoplayer.vevo.com/embed/embedded?videoId=USQY50911121&playlist=False&autoplay=0&playerId=62FF0A5C-0D9E-4AC1-AF04-1D9E97EE3961&playerType=embedded'
[redirect] Following redirect to http://cache.vevo.com/a/swf/versions/3/player.swf?videoId=USQY50911121&amp%3bplaylist=False&amp%3bautoplay=0&amp%3bplayerId=62FF0A5C-0D9E-4AC1-AF04-1D9E97EE3961&amp%3bplayerType=embedded&&cb=20130416356
WARNING: Falling back on generic information extractor.

Be sure to call youtube-dl with the --verbose flag and include its complete output. Make sure you are using the latest version; type youtube-dl -U to update.

But it's simple to change a videoplayer style URL to cache style URL, for this example:

$ youtube-dl -F -- 'http://cache.vevo.com/m/html/embed.html?video=USQY50911121'

Basically just look for videoId=... and put that after http://cache.vevo.com/m/html/embed.html?video=...

@msliczniak Yes, that change didn't make it in in time for 2013.12.16.6, and I didn't notice that this issue contained requests for multiple URLs until after commenting. Should work fine in 2013.12.16.7.

Thanks again, now the above works too with 2013.12.17.2
