Happens on three different systems, all with the very latest youtube-dl and Python 2.7.5:

> youtube-dl --version
2013.12.11.2

System 1: Darwin mrbp 13.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 13.0.0: Thu Sep 19 22:22:27 PDT 2013; root:xnu-2422.1.72~6/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64
System 2: Linux myhostname 3.10.1-hardened-r1-ftf #4 SMP Mon Oct 7 15:46:37 CEST 2013 x86_64 Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D2500 @ 1.86GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
System 3: Linux nebuchadnezzar 3.10.7-gentoo-r1 #1 SMP Wed Oct 16 17:13:11 CEST 2013 x86_64 Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D510 @ 1.66GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

I've tried with both a full episode URL and a single clip URL as I was not sure about which one is supported. It seems both should work, but both stop producing any further output as seen below.

Full episode URL: http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/thu-december-12-2013-evangeline-lilly
Single clip URL: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-december-9-2013/that-thing-they-said-they-re-not-doing--they-re-totally-doing

Verbose output:

> youtube-dl -v 'http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-december-9-2013/that-thing-they-said-they-re-not-doing--they-re-totally-doing'

That's it, nothing more. When running with --dump-intermediate-pages I can see that at that point it has actually found the URL containing the rtmpe URLs, but form that point on my knowledge about the inner workings of youtube-dl falls short so i'm hoping someone on here might be able to help me understand what the problem might be.

If you have seen the rtmp urls, then it means that it hangs when opening the connection for downloading the videos.
It works for me, so it may be a temporary issue with their servers.

Indeed it seems that way, now it's working for me as well. Thanks for the quick reply!
