Make sure you are using the latest version: run youtube-dl --version and ensure your version is 2019.03.09. If it's not, read this FAQ entry and update. Issues with outdated version will be rejected.

  • I've verified and I assure that I'm running youtube-dl 2019.03.09

Before submitting an issue make sure you have:

  • At least skimmed through the README, most notably the FAQ and BUGS sections
  • Searched the bugtracker for similar issues including closed ones
  • Checked that provided video/audio/playlist URLs (if any) are alive and playable in a browser

What is the purpose of your issue?

  • Bug report (encountered problems with youtube-dl)

Description of your issue, suggested solution and other information

I'm getting this error

ERROR: This video is protected by a password, use the --video-password option

when I try to download a video from any public Vimeo Review page that doesn't have any password protection.

On the other hand I can download same videos in a browser without any trouble using standart Vimeo UI download buttons.

Example Vimeo Review pages:

Tried using master from @Kiku-Reise , so 100% the commit is still there. I still get:

ERROR: This video is protected by a password, use the --video-password option

I recommend to reopen the bug.

the commit was working before the change made by Vimeo, you can open a new issue for the new problem.
