yt-dl not working even after updating #20787

  • I've verified and I assure that I'm running youtube-dl 2019.04.24

Well, not really. I just updated 15 minutes ago and got the result:
Updating to version 2019.04.17 ...

Add the -v flag to your command line you run youtube-dl with (youtube-dl -v <your command line>), copy the whole output and insert it here. It should look similar to one below (replace it with your log inserted between triple ```):

"youtube-dl -U" updated only to 2019.04.17 in the first run. I had to call "-U" again to get 2019.04.24. Using that version, the bug is not longer reproducible.
