DASH muxing behavior inconsistent with default --keep-video behavior #2108
Comments
Agreed, and not only would it be more consistent with the documentation, but eliminating those source files is probably more convenient to most users. |

When muxing 99% of the times a user would like to delete the source files as neither they are useful as separate audio and video steams nor majority of the media-players are able to playback the DASH formats. I would also vote for the ability to delete the source files after successful conversion. |

I just created a pull request that solves this issue (pull request: #3307) |
|
By deleting the source files you guys broke resuming a playlist download. |

It has been working for a while, so I'm closing the issue. @weedy open a new issue for that. |

@weedy videos that have already been downloaded will be detected in the next version. |
When downloading a DASH video from YouTube, the muxing behavior leaves behind the original media files after muxing – with the format codes appended – next to the final muxed file from ffmpeg.
This is inconsistent with youtube-dl's help, where the following option is presented under Post-processing Options:
To be consistent with existing conventions, the source DASH files should be erased after muxing has successfully completed.
