Thanks for the report. We passed in the brightcove URL itself as referer, but brightcove requires the original URL. This has been fixed in youtube-dl 2014.01.07. Type youtube-dl -U to update.

Works as advertised with 2014.01.07.5. Thanks again for the fast fix.
