I see that this is fixed in master. I compiled from source and can confirm that this is fixed :)

@pachacamac agreed, its not super clear in the README.md. Heres what I did

in the CONTRIBUTING.md it says you need:

python
make (only GNU make is supported)
pandoc
zip
nosetests

First I cloned the repo, then in the main directory ran make, I got an error saying it couldn't find pandoc, so I installed it with brew install pandoc, re-ran make it worked, then ran make install which installs youtube-dl in your /usr/local/bin

Depending on your setup you might need to install more from that first list to get it working.
