Description

I'm trying to have ffmpeg output a youtube video as a mp4 but via pipe instead of a file. For some reason when I try this command it does not work though. I've tried a few variations of adding in the extra arguments so it can frag it so it can stream it, but to no avail

You can't merge and pipe at the same time.

But if I get two urls and input them into ffmpeg, as 2 seperate inputs, it works. This is not possible with youtube-dl?

@nadermx Your ffmpeg output says :
Option movflags not found.

It's because --external-downloader-args seems to be handling ffmpeg INPUT arguments.

-movflags frag_keyframe+empty_moov is a ffmpeg OUTPUT argument.

I also thought --external-downloader-args was handling ffmpeg OUTPUT arguments, which I beleive is more useful than passing ffmpeg INPUT arguments.

@dstftw Can you please update youtube-dl manpage to precise that in the case of ffmpeg, the option --external-downloader-args only handles ffmpeg input arguments. ?

God bless you.
