Thank you for the report. Support for Youtube search URLs has been added in version 2014.03.04. Type sudo youtube-dl -U to update. Note that there is also a more efficient and better search interface - you can simply type youtube-dl 'ytsearch5:making mustard' to get the top 5 videos.
