Could you add timeout option like in wget?

Yes, certainly, although it may be hard to implement that for RTMP &co, so it may become a timeout hint. I'm still busy until mid March; after that, I'll start implementing the outstanding requests one-by-one. A timeout option is certainly sensible, although not high-priority (hint: if you provide code, it'll be integrated a lot faster). In the meantime, you can try to modify the code; search for socket.setdefaulttimeout.
