download speeds drop off

In a typical download with reverbnation, the first 1024KB downloads at a very high speed and then slows down dramatically. If you stop the download and then restart, the next 1024KB downloads at very high speed and then slows down again.

Given this, is there any way to improve the download speed of reverbnation (and any other streaming IE's that may be impacted by this issue) by splitting download requests into 1024KB segments?

Similar issue with mixcloud, except it appears to happen after 4MB instead of 1MB

The platform (mixcloud) probably limits the download speed to the playback rate of the audio.

I'm having this issue when downloading YouTube playlists. Starts off with 3MiB/s then drop to about 400KiB/s. Only work around is to establish a new connection.
