download mp3 format from youtube

I need to download youtube clip as .mp3 file. However When I try to download audio format of a youtube clip, it appears that both .m4a and .mp3 get saved into the folder.

Where have I gone wrong.(command in windows cmd)

youtube-dl -x --audio-format mp3 --dateafter 20140909 -ciw ytuser:Lankanhotvideos

YouTube does not offer mp3 file formats. Therefore, we download the m4a files, and convert them to mp3, and delete the originals afterwards. So it should be normal that one m4a file is present temporarily. Can you post the output when you run youtube-dl with the -v option, and the output of dir afterwards?

By the way, why are you passing in -ciw? That looks suspect at the least. -i may be a good idea, but -c and -w should rarely be passed at all unless you are debugging something.

Fixed it. instead of using the parameter "ytuser", I used the full url of the playlist

Can you elaborate on what was wrong? ytuser:foobar and http://youtube.com/user/foobar/videos should be interchangeable. If they're not, that would be a serious bug.

sorry, on my original post I have made a typo. In the terminal I have included additional parameter k.
but in the post I haven't indicated of the usage of k parameter.

Therefore I can now confirm that, following commands works as expected.
ie download m4a-> convert to mp3 > delete original m4a
youtube-dl -x --audio-format mp3 --dateafter 20140909 -ciw ytuser:Lankanhotvideos
