Forked repo and will attempt a fix.

Hi @danwakefield,
you seem to be running an old version of youtube-dl. This should not be an issue with the latest version. Please update to the current version and try again.

Yes, I realized this after seeing commit messages for versions I didnt have. Just didnt notice the discrepancies in the version number with both apt-get and pip version are outdated but reported I was at newest version. Fixed by downloading correct version form site and doing a manual install
