can you debug please?

but 6a3ff26 say that issue should be fixed in HEAD

Quoting from our FAQ (as @skojin mentioned):

youtube requires an additional signature since September 2012 which is not supported by old versions of youtube-dl. You can update youtube-dl with sudo youtube-dl --update (or python youtube-dl --update).

It seems to work some times, maybe on the 10th try or so, but most of the time it just says unable to download video :(

Unable to reproduce. Does it happen only on this video? (Does updating work? That is, look at youtube-dl --version) System specs?

I managed to download 1 video from the same channel (EEVBlog) this morning but since then all are failing :/ - here is me trying again with a different video/channel:

It sits at Extracting video information for about 20-30 seconds, then prints the error unable to download video.

Any way to debug? -v doesn't print any info and the youtube website seems to work ok, albeit I sometimes need to refresh the page once or twice for it to play a video.

EDIT: I ran this:

while true; do youtube-dl 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ytw57212X2o' && break; sleep 1; done

And the video was downloaded on the 15th attempt, heh.

Seems a connectivity issue to me, but I will investigate further.

argh! - it was a connection problem. I did some wiresharking and noticed I'm getting heavy losses for UDP connections - I changed my NIC driver and the problems went away! - Please close :)

it works after youtube-dl upgrade, thanks :) But it works a bit slow.
