Video seemed fully downloaded, but can't be played through. #5509

Watching it on YouTube is OK.
But playing downloaded video makes local player software (mpc-hc and smplayer) crash at around 10 seconds from beginning.
Any idea?

This is fix in 81cd954. However, the fix is not included in the latest stable release yet. As a temporary workaround, add the --merge-output-format mkv option. For example:

youtube-dl --no-playlist -v -f bestvideo+bestaudio --restrict-filenames https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iv9fBC0qa0 --merge-output-format mkv

I did add --merge-output-format mkv.
The log I posted contains 2 phases of executing youtube-dl, the second phase is with --merge-output-format mkv.
That said, just now I also tried adding --merge-output-format mkv directly at first, and the result is the same.
The output mkv file still crashes players.

With youtube-dl.exe 2015.04.17, ffmpeg git-cbe2700 (N-71633-gcbe2700) and smplayer 14.9.0.6812, I can play the resultant mkv fluently. Could you post the log from the following command?

mplayer.exe 140918_Stellar_-_@_by_-wA--1iv9fBC0qa0.mkv

(Note it's mplayer.exe, not smplayer.exe)

All are 1080x1920, VP9 video and AAC audio, and therefore were merged as mkv.
When youtube-dl downloads the AVC version and merged as mp4, it's OK.

Works perfectly for me with exactly same versions of smplayer/ffmpeg.

Crashes without any errors?

Anyway, I think the problem is from mplayer/ffmpeg rather than youtube-dl. A better solution should be seeking help from respective developers.
