You are using an outdated version of youtube-dl. Read our FAQ if you have troubles updating.

OK, thanks, it's the newest version that's shipped with Debian 8.0, so I'll try to migrate to manual installation. Should I file a bug with Debian maintainers?

You can, but I don't think this will have any effect on already released stable version since it's not rolling release.
