You are probably running an outdated version, with the last version it will report the correct message: y04-NzarItQ: YouTube said: Please sign in to view this video. so you need to login to download it. In case you don't have access to it, you can use --ignore-errors to skip the private videos.

Two extra notes:

• As explained in the error message, please post the full output with the --verbose option.
• Don't run youtube-dl as the root user, we try to make it as secure as possible but it's an unnecessary risk.
